Chris and Lee first met in 2004 at a birthday dinner for their mutual friend, Mark Whitty. By chance, they sat next to each other and immediately took a disliking to the other’s facetiousness and/or pomposity. Seeing how the evening couldn’t get any worse, Chris took Lee’s camera without permission and snapped this photo to document this momentous occasion.

For years, Lee had no clue who “the weird guy with the sideburns” in the picture was. Then came that fateful evening in 2007 when their other mutual friend, Andrew Renahan, invited them both out for drinks. Once again, the sparks did not fly and Lee was heard to have said, “What is up with that weird guy with the sideburns?”

Thankfully, when Andrew turned 30, he decided to celebrate as most Canadians do, by going curling. Nothing says “falling in love” like ice, 40 pound stones and awkward stick handling. By the end of the evening, Chris had finagled his way into Lee’s van for a lift home. Seeing how it was only 11:00pm (Andrew has a strict bedtime), Chris invited Lee to go for a drink. She accepted, albeit somewhat reluctantly due to Chris’s blurting out of the invitation as they turned onto his street. He was nervous/possibly a little inebriated.

After drinks, and witnessing some interesting dance moves by a local drunk, Chris “accidentally” left his second pair of shoes in Lee’s van, hence guaranteeing a necessary second “get together”. Smooth. Very smooth. As most people know, there is nothing more seductive than taking advantage of a woman who owns a van when you have to move into a new apartment. Soon enough, Chris’s slam dunk approach to wooing won Lee over and she was no longer able to resist his calculated yet imprecise advances.

Flash forward a bunch of days and boom… Lee’s “a-ring-on-my-finger-or-I-am-outta-here” attitude and Chris’s “I-can’t-afford-this-condo-on-my-own” way of thinking couldn’t keep those two kids apart.

On October 23rd, 2009, Chris asked Lee for her hand in marriage.

On April 24th, 2010 they sealed the deal.
