Delete Duplicate Posts Pro WordPress Plugin

by   |  Posted in Downloads  |  95 comments

I just updated this plugin for WordPress 3.0. I also simplified the manual cron process. If you have any questions post them in the support forum.

What exactly does this plugin do?

Let’s say, hypothetically, you have a website that gathers news from RSS feeds with some sort of parser. Sometimes, for whatever reason, you might get multiple versions of the same post. Delete Duplicate Posts Pro WordPress plugin to the rescue.

This plugin offers the ability to manually list all dupes and then delete them. Or you can activate a daily WordPress cron to make it happen automatically. Advanced users even have the ability to setup their own cron, for more control.

Picture-1Picture-2

This plugin can really help you out if you are using auto-blogging plugins like Wp-O-Matic, FeedWordPress and Autoblogged.

A single site license costs only $19.77 for lifetime use. All updates are yours for free.

Delete Duplicate Posts Pro is designed for WordPress 3.0. It has been tested on older versions and does work but many extra features, like the Dashboard widget, might not function properly.

Click the “Buy” button below to purchase a single site license. Be sure to click back after completing the purchase to download the plugin and get your activation code.

NOTE: You don’t need a PayPal account to make a purchase. Just look near the bottom left after you click the “Buy” button for the “Don’t Have a PayPal account” link. You will not need to create an account, you will just need to enter your CC info.

No refunds available.

Unlimited License Now Available for $49.77!

    Hi,
this pluging sounds perfect to complement a new auto blogging system that I will be promoting to my list. But… my list is made up largely of novice users. Without being disparaging, (we all have to start somewhere) how easy is this to set-up for newbies? Is there a step by step set-up guide?
    Thanks, Dave…

    • c.bavota on February 23, 2010 at 12:31 pm

The plugin is pretty straightforward to use. Once it is installed you can push one button to search for dupes and then one button to delete them. You can also turn on the daily WordPress cron so it automates itself.

what about posts that have the same titles but different content? i get that a lot with getty images: same titles but different pics in each post. if i ran your plugin it would delete valid posts!

    • c.bavota on February 26, 2010 at 11:59 am

It would delete your “valid” posts if they have the same title. Attempting to match content is possible but content contains too many variables that would end up causing a lot of dupes to get by.

“This plugin can really help you out if you are using auto-blogging plugins like Wp-O-Matic, FeedWordPress and Autoblogged. ”

Can it delete duplicate posts from these other plugins AUTOMATICALLY?

    • c.bavota on March 2, 2010 at 4:37 pm

This plugin will delete any duplicate posts that have the same title. No matter how they have been created.

    • Dan Cong on March 3, 2010 at 11:24 pm

But when will it allow us to delete the older duplicates rather than the new ones?? You have avoided answering this from the posts above. Don’t you know how to do this or have no intentions of doing such???

    • c.bavota on March 6, 2010 at 10:48 am

I have been working on a solution, but I haven’t really reached the point where I am comfortable to offer that option.

  4. Peter @ Blog Hatter 2010 on March 2, 2010 at 8:05 pm

I do like the sound of this plugin, and also the customer care aspect that you seem to offer. One of the guys was talking about promoting it too his list. But is there an affiliate program associated with the plugin?

    Regards

    Pete

Hey nice plugin. Is there a trial version that is available?

    • c.bavota on April 14, 2010 at 3:22 pm

I do not have a trial version available. Sorry.

  7. Tulsa Dentist on April 16, 2010 at 6:03 am

Very useful plugin! I’ll surely try this one.

Quote: Can it delete duplicate posts from these other plugins AUTOMATICALLY?

I don’t think you adequately answered this question. For instance, I find that WPOM will fetch about 50 copies of an article automatically, when only one is required. However, can your plugin automatically delete the extra copies, especially if they are still in draft. Who wants to publish 50 copies of an article? I first hold them in draft until I’m sure the fetch was correct. If duplicates were automatically retrieved it would be easier to allow immediate publication.

Also, an earlier comment mentioned that

Also, an earlier post mentioned “the plugin is calling a file that is not in the plugins folder, wp-config.php”. Does this mean one part of the plugin needs to be in the root file of the blog?

    • c.bavota on April 19, 2010 at 10:33 am

The plugin will not delete duplicate posts immediately, meaning that as new dupes come in, it will not automatically detect them. If you use the daily cron it will activate everyday and delete the dupes. If you create your own cron you can get it to activate more often.

The plugin doestn’t call wp-config at all. WordPress does that automatically in order to access the database. All the plugin does is use the $wpdb function.

  9. Article Online on May 2, 2010 at 6:15 am

Does it work with draft or only with online post ?

  10. owasso homes for sale on May 16, 2010 at 5:31 am

Nice plugin! It takes lot of time to manually check similar posts and then delete them. This plugin will definitely save time. It’ll be good if there is a 1 week trial version so that we can get an overview of it before actually buying it.

  11. GPL License on May 23, 2010 at 5:03 pm

Just curious how you think your plugin complies with the WordPress GPL license and if you’ve actually read the license.

I have this problem. I use wprobot plugin to feed articles from articlesbase. Using this wprobot I can append some text to the title to make it a bit unique.

So, for eg “How To Lose Weight” (original title) becomes “How To Lose Weight – Weight Loss”. After sometime, I find that I have few duplicates. The contents are the same except the titles.

For more eg “How To Lose Weight – Dam Fast” etc.
I would like to suggest you give user options whether to delete the post based on the TITLE or THE FIRST SENTENCE”.

In my case I would like to delete the post based on the first sentence of the post. I know it would be impossible to check the whole content. But deleting the post based on the first sentence would be fine.

Maybe the plugin has the following options based on the above discussion:

    Delete Options:
    1) Based on Title
    (x) Old posts (x) New Posts <– User choose one of the options

    OR

    2) Based on First Sentence
    (x) Old Posts (x) New Posts

    Just my 2 cents

  13. Gorgar on June 1, 2010 at 9:52 am

Can this plugin also delete duplicate pages?

    • c.bavota on June 1, 2010 at 11:21 am

Not really. It only searched for duplicate posts.

  14. Matt on June 23, 2010 at 10:39 pm

    compatible with wp 3.”’?

Looks great, would like to buy if still supported! :)

    • c.bavota on June 24, 2010 at 9:52 am

      Still works with 3.0.

  15. Factoring on July 1, 2010 at 4:18 am

Is this Plugin working on WP 2.9.x too?

    • c.bavota on July 1, 2010 at 9:17 am

Yup. It also works on 3.0 but I am working on an update.

  16. Michael on July 9, 2010 at 4:02 am

It does not seem to be working with the latest WP 3, will there be a update soon ?

  17. Michael on August 21, 2010 at 10:22 am

Does not seem like there is any support for this plugin anymore. Does anybody know of an alternative

    • c.bavota on August 21, 2010 at 1:49 pm

I still support the plugin. What do you need to know?

  18. Hassan Akhtar on August 26, 2010 at 2:33 am

Hey man. Your plugin is nice but another plugin called “eDel Post Copies” does the same job for FREEEE!

    • c.bavota on August 26, 2010 at 9:32 am

Guess you can’t stop a good idea from being copied.

  19. Fendi Ahmad on August 29, 2010 at 12:27 am

Hello, I use free version, and I got an error when I use it. The duplicates can’t shown. Should I upgrade to pro? What’s different between free and pro? Thanks. ~Fendi~

    • c.bavota on August 30, 2010 at 9:16 am

I am not associated with the free plugins. They were created by other people after I had released this plugin.

  20. James @ Article Marketing on October 6, 2010 at 9:58 am

Will you offer a licence for multiple site use? I have over 30 sites that could use a plugin like this, but I wouldn’t pay $20 for each one.

    • c.bavota on October 6, 2010 at 1:54 pm

Purchase the unlimited license to use it on multiple sites.

  21. ObasPost on October 13, 2010 at 4:46 am

Can I upgrade to Multi site if i purchase the single license now?

    • c.bavota on October 13, 2010 at 12:15 pm

      Yup.

  22. Sumit Bahl on December 1, 2010 at 11:32 pm

  23. chris on December 26, 2010 at 4:59 pm

how do we get an updated version?

    • c.bavota on December 27, 2010 at 10:40 am

Contact me through the link in the menu above. Make sure to send me the email address you would have used on PayPal so I can find your invoice.

  24. Mike on December 29, 2010 at 3:35 am

Wow – I am BOUND to find duplicates in my 2000+ posts – hope this works and thanks!
